Harrodsburg and Mercer County offer many recreational opportunities.

 

  • Anderson - Dean Park

    A plethora of outdoor activities abound at this first class community faculty.  The 213 acre facility has a 5 field baseball complex; a three field softball complex, a ten field soccer complex, pang-pong courts, lighted tennis courts, lighted basketball courts, lighted softball batting cages lighted, a volleyball courts, horse shoe pits, an 18 hole disc (frisbee) golf course, a two mile walking / biking trail, an outdoor and indoor picnic shelter, a skateboard park and several children's playgrounds.  In addition,  there is an aquatic center with a 40 foot water slide, a junior Olympic Lap Pool, and a children's play feature.

  • Bluegrass Fitness Center

    This family oriented facility offers a wide variety of equipment and training options. There are Nautilus machines and free weights for all levels of fitness. The fitness programs include personal training, group fitness classes and all levels of aerobics including the Silver Sneaker program for the mature and physically challenged. And when you need refreshing they offer cooler drinks, protein drinks and supplements as well. They also provide child care. Check with them for the current specials.

  • Bright Leaf Golf Resort

    This 36 hole resort has a 27 hole regulation course and a 9 hole lighted course ( until 11:00 PM).  The complex also has a health club, pro shop, restaurant and hotel rooms and villas overlooking the course.
     

  • The Cummins Ferry Campground and Marina

    This River front facility offers RV and Tent camping with full utility hookups, a fully stocked marina and recreation areas. It also offers boat rentals, a boat ramp and a country store for those last minute snacks and bait items. (Make sure you keep them separate!)"

  • Dixie Belle Riverboat

    The Dixie Belle Riverboat is operated by Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill from Shaker Landing. This narrated excursion goes through the Kentucky River Palisades with breathtaking views around each bend. Three excursions daily from May through October: 12 noon, 2 PM and 4 PM
     

  • Eddie Montgomery's Steakhouse

    This 20,000 square foot restaurant and entertainment facility is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2009. It will be located in Skylar's Landing, a 38.5-acre development, in southern Harrodsburg.
     

  • Lake Herrington Chimney Rock RV Park, Cane Run Fishing Marina, Chimney Rock Marina, Pandora Marina, Royalty's Fishing Camp and Marina, and Walker's Mid-Lake Marina are all located in Mercer County.

  • Mercer County Fairgrounds
    The Mercer County Fair and Horse Show, historically held the last week on July, is considered one of the top Saddlebread Horseshows in Kentucky. The fairgrounds also hosts other events throughout the year.
     

  • Old Fort Harrod State Park

    This park is a reconstruction of the first permanent settlement west
    of the Alleghenies. Costumed crafts people perform everyday
    pioneer tasks during scheduled times of the year. Visit their website

    There are over 40 miles of well marked hiking and horseback riding trails at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Brochure and trail map available. Free to hikers, admission for riders, turnouts and stall rentals.

  • The Twin Hills Drive-in Theater

    This hidden jewel is one of only 12 remaining drive-ins in
    Kentucky. The Twin Hills complex re-opened for the 2006 summer season and has been growing in popularity ever since. During the
    Drive-in heyday there were 116 screens open in Kentucky.
